Before you begin
- Lower display brightness
- Let the panel reach room temperature
- Dim the room without making it completely dark
What to look for
- Faint interface shapes on gray screens
- Uneven color or brightness
- Vertical bands in near-black gray
Important: Temporary image retention may fade. This visual test cannot measure panel wear or prove permanent burn-in.
Frequently asked questions
Does this test cause burn-in?
Short checks at moderate brightness are low risk, but any static bright image should not be left on an OLED panel for a long time.
Is image retention permanent?
Not always. Temporary retention can disappear, while burn-in is persistent uneven aging.
Should I run a pixel refresh?
Follow the display maker's instructions. Do not repeatedly run panel maintenance cycles without a reason.
