How to use the white screen
- Set your device to a comfortable brightness and choose Open fullscreen. Move the window to the monitor you want to view first.
- Use Hide controls for an uninterrupted field. Move the pointer, tap, or press a key to reveal the controls again. Use the named color buttons or arrow keys to switch colors.
- Select Close screen or press Escape to leave. If your browser refuses fullscreen, the field stays usable inside the window; browser bars may remain visible.
Choose your own shade with Custom color, or enter a three- or six-digit HEX value and select Apply color. The preview and fullscreen field update together. Switch back to a named preset using the fullscreen color buttons.
A plain white screen, ready to use
Use the white field as a simple background for a presentation pause, a drawing reference, or a small source of light near a camera. Its appearance and light output depend on your display and its settings. It is not a calibrated light box, and fullscreen white does not override your device brightness or unlock extra brightness.
Look for dark points and broad tint
At normal viewing distance, look for a fixed dark point or a broad region that appears tinted. Dust, reflections, surface marks, viewing angle, and panel texture can resemble defects. Repeat the observation on black and RGB fields before assigning a cause. Use the dead pixel test for a guided sequence and the uniformity test for gray-field comparisons.
White backgrounds and highlight detail are different
A blank white field contains no near-white steps, so it cannot tell you whether highlights are clipped. Use the white saturation test to compare subtle bright shades. If white looks yellow, check night-light filters, picture modes, and ambient reflections; this field does not measure white-point accuracy.
What this color field cannot measure
The page requests #FFFFFF (RGB 255, 255, 255). Browser color handling, device settings, ambient light, and the panel affect what you see. A uniform field is a visual aid; it cannot measure color accuracy, luminance, contrast ratio, gamut coverage, or physical response time. Screenshots cannot document a physical pixel defect; a photo can record a location, but its exposure is not a measurement.
On phones and tablets, fullscreen availability varies by browser and device. The window fallback remains usable, but cannot remove system bars or cover an area reserved by the operating system. Use the larger preview for a plain background, and a focused test for a specific display question.
Frequently asked questions
How do I get a full white screen?
Select Open fullscreen above. If fullscreen is unavailable, the white field fills the browser window. Move the pointer or tap to restore hidden controls, then use Close screen. Escape also exits.
Can I choose a custom color instead of white?
Yes. Use Custom color to choose a shade, or enter a three- or six-digit HEX value and select Apply color. The preview and fullscreen field use the selected color. The named preset remains available in the fullscreen controls.
Does a bright white screen clean or repair the panel?
No. It can make some surface marks easier to see but does not clean the screen or repair pixels. Follow the manufacturer’s cleaning instructions and avoid sustained high-brightness static patterns.
